Student Company Lands Among Top 5 in Europe

SOCKme, a company that's made up of five Tallinn high-schoolers and manufactures trendy mobile phone holders, has been named one of Europe's top five student companies at a Junior Achievement competition in Norway.
During the event, held August 4 to 7, a personalized mobile phone sock decorated with a picture drawn by one of the team members was also sent to Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon.
The title of European Student Company of the Year was awarded to the UK team Summit Enterprise, which makes multifunctional perfume pens for both men and women.
The first runner up was newQReation I/S from Denmark with their innovation that combines quick response codes and smartphones. Slovakian team ACE, a manufacturer of toothbrushes with toothpaste, was named second runner up.
In total, 33 teams from across Europe participated in the competition.
In April, the SOCKme team, comprising students from Tallinn Secondary School No. 21, was named the best Estonian student company of 2011.
