Kuressaare Hospital director Märt Kõlli awarded town order of merit
This year, in honor of the 457th birthday of the town of Kuressaare, the capital of the Western Estonian island of Saaremaa, the Order of Merit of Kuressaare was bestowed on Kuressaare Hospital director Märt Kõlli.
"First and foremost, Märt Kõlli's actions need to be considered going back four years, in which time the development of Kuressaare Hospital has continued," said Saaremaa Municipal Mayor Madis Kallas.
Kallas highlighted accomplishments including the renovation of various parts of the hospital, the building of a primary care health center and helping build a helipad, as well as Kõlli working to ensure that represented at the hospital were as many different specialists as possible together with modern medical technology.
Kuressaare Hospital was also under Kõlli's direction as it played a significant role in the fight against the novel coronavirus as the island of Saaremaa became the epicenter of one of Estonia's biggest outbreaks of the virus this spring.
