Estonia condemned the “so-called Presidential elections” as well as the referendum on amending the name of the region that took place on Apr. 9.

The country found that these actions were illegal, and did not recognize the outcome of the elections, the statement read.
The ministry added that the so-called elections and referendum undermined efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and therefore damaged security and stability in the region.
Estonia reaffirmed its resolute support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders. South-Ossetia and Abkhazia were integral parts of Georgia, the ministry stressed.
