Industrial producer price index up 3.5 percent in January

According to information released by Statistics Estonia on Wednesday, the producer price index (PPI) of Estonia's industrial output in January 2018 increased by 1.8 percent compared to December 2017 and 3.5 percent on year.

Compared to the previous month, the PPI in January was affected more than average by an increase in the prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply as well as in the manufacture of wood products and chemicals, but also by a decrease in prices in mining and quarrying.

Compared to last January, the index was affected more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of electronic equipment and wood products as well as in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, but also by a decrease in prices in mining and quarrying.

In January 2018, the export price index increased by 1.5 percent compared to December and 3.9 percent compared to last January.

Compared to the previous month, the prices of electricity, forestry products as well as chemical and oil products increased more than average, while the prices of agricultural products and building materials decreased.

The import price index, meanwhile, increased by 0.4 percent on month and 1.8 percent on year last month.

Compared to the previous month, the prices of electricity, agricultural, wood and oil products increased more than average in January, while the prices of footwear, textiles and food products decreased.
