Gallery: Queen's Birthday Party reception hosted in Tallinn

British Ambassador to Estonia Theresa Bubbear hosted the annual Queen's Birthday Party reception Thursday evening.

The event, held at the ambassador's residence in Maarjamäe, Tallinn, featured a flypast by an RAF Eurofighter Typhoon.

Guests, including Prime Minister Jüri Ratas (Centre) and several government ministers, as well as NATO personnel from the U.K. and other countries, were treated to a selection of British food, drink and music.

Attendees were also invited to donate food products to Toidupank, an initiative aimed at distributing food to the most vulnerable in society.

While Elizabeth II, who celebrated her 93rd birthday this year, was born on April 21, the official birthday is on the second Saturday in June. Thus it was marked in the U.K. last Saturday, June 8. Her father, George VI also celebrated his official birthday in June, though he was born in December. The practice was started principally so celebrations could take advantage of the better weather in the U.K. at that time of year, though Thursday's weather conditions in Tallinn were rather changeable.
