Tallinn introduces new 'nature buses'
Tallinna linnatransport (TLT) has started a new project to bring old buses back into life. Three new buses have been put onto the route and are known as "nature buses".
The name "nature bus" comes from the bus' interior design and while driving on the bus, passengers should be able to smell the aroma of the forest.
Lota Viik, reporter of "Ringvaade", said instead of the smell of the forest, she felt like she was in candy land. She added: "The colors inside the bus are totally different than inside usual buses."
Otto Popel, a member of the board of TLT, said that the idea of the "nature bus" came from a traffic accident. He told "Ringvaade": "A few years ago, a traffic accident happened when the bus broke into two parts. We repaired the vehicle and during the restoration, we came up with an idea that we have never before."
The initial stage was that the "nature bus" was an experiment. After that, the members of the board surveyed the bus passengers to get their feedback on that idea. Popel added: "If the smell of the forest does not interfere with the travel of the passengers but brings back good memories of the trips into nature, then we will continue with the "nature bus" experiment."
The aroma of the forest is not the only innovation on the "nature bus. For example, USB charging sockets have been installed and new bus seats can be easily cleaned.
