Martin Helme becomes first deputy prime minister
The government changed the procedure for replacing the prime minister on Thursday. From now on, the first deputy prime minister will be Martin Helme, EKRE chairman and minster of finance.
The first deputy prime minister takes on the role of the prime minister when Prime Minister Jüri Ratas is away from Estonia.
Previously, the deputy prime minister was former EKRE chairman Mart Helme, the minister of the interior. Mart Helme is now the fourth deputy prime minister.
There was no change for the other deputy prime ministers. The second deputy is Urmas Reinsalu (Isamaa) and if Ratas, Martin Helme and Urmas Reinsalu are absent, the prime minister will be replaced by Minister of Education and Research Mailis Reps (Center).
