VIDEO: Swedish MP Who Survived Ferry Disaster Backs New, Independent Inquiries
ETV nightly news ran a segment on Kent Härstedt, a Social Democratic MP who at age 29 was one of the passengers on the ill-fated Estonia ferry.
He said he was most bothered by the question of how quickly the ferry sank - in just 30 minutes - as well as the hasty plans to encase the ship in concrete - something that was ultimately not done.
"We don't want the MS Estonia to become a tourist destination," he said with regard to reports of diving expeditions to the site.
CORRECTION: There is a misspelling of the MP's name in the subtitles. It is Kent Härstedt.
