Estonia's inflation rises to 5 percent in February
Consumer prices in Estonia rose by 5.04 percent year-on-year in February and by 1.3 percent compared to January, data from Statistics Estonia shows.
In January, Estonia's annual consumer price index (CPI) growth was 3.9 percent, ranking the country fourth in the eurozone in terms of inflation.
In February 2023, the annual inflation rate was 4.2 percent.
Lauri Veski, head of the consumer prices team at Statistics Estonia, said electricity prices were behind the increase.
"Year-on-year, the prices of almost all goods and services have increased. The only exception is clothing and footwear, which were 1.6 percent cheaper," Veski said.
The consumer price index reflects the consumption structure of Estonian residents in Estonia, while the harmonized index also takes tourists into account and is comparable to the international harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP).
Statistics Estonia will publish the full CPI data for February on March 7 and the harmonized index data on March 18.
