Minister, medical professionals sign letter of intent
Representatives of the medical sector along with Minister of Health and Labor Jevgeni Ossinovski (SDE) signed a letter of intent on Tuesday according to which the financing of the healthcare sector will be increased, and there is readiness to raise the salaries of medical professionals.
“The additional funding for healthcare has to improve the access to treatment and continue to guarantee quality medical care for people when they need it,” Ossinovski was quoted by spokespeople for the ministry, adding that he wanted to thank the healthcare sector’s representatives for the constructive discussion.
According to the minister, there is a certain readiness to raise the salaries of medical workers according to the proposal made by the state’s mediator at the beginning of the year. “We agreed that professionals will wait for the government’s decisions regarding the budgetary strategy this April. After that we can enter into a collective agreement retroactively as of Apr. 1, and guarantee a pay raise for healthcare professionals,” Ossinovski said.
The parties to the letter agree that 94 percent of the Health Insurance Fund’s treatment demand will be covered in 2018, and 98 percent in 2019, while as of 2020 it will be fully covered.
