GALLERY: Over 500 reservists turn up in Jõhvi for snap exercise

More than 500 reservists turned up at Jõhvi Army Base on Thursday morning after being summoned for the snap exercise Okas ("Quill") that was announced just one day prior, the Estonian Defence Forces' (EDF) paper Sõdurileht reported.
The government held an emergency e-meeting on Wednesday to announce an extraordinary additional reservist training event for 669 reservists.
Reservists of the 13th Battalion of the 1st Infantry Brigade were summoned for the snap exercise with orders to report to Jõhvi by 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7. The reservists were notified via SMS and email, and information about the summons was disseminated in the news as well.
In accordance with the National Defence Act, the Estonian government may announce snap exercises to rehearse and verify the accelerated achieving of combat readiness of reserve units without 120 days' advance notice.
