Sources: Trump to meet with Baltic presidents on occasion of centennials
Estonian and U.S. diplomats are preparing for the presidents of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on the occasion of the three countries' centennials next year.
In a comment that appeared on the portal Edasi.org on Tuesday, MP Marko Mihkelson, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu, wrote that over the past twelve months, Estonian politicians and diplomats have received the most attention and support in recent history from the U.S., adding that meetings have taken place on all levels.
"Hopefully President Kersti Kaljulaid will get one step closer to unraveling the secret if she manages to ask this directly of President Trump," Mihkelson said in reference to persistent questions regarding the direction of Trump's foreign policy, adding that this opportunity shouldn't be far off.
Mihkelson did not wish to comment more exactly on the planned meeting, but according to ERR's information, preparations for a meeting between Trump and the Baltic presidents have long since been underway. When and where exactly it will take place, however, will first and foremost be for the U.S. to decide.
