Washington DC mayor declares Feb. 24 Estonia Day
As Estonia is commemorating the 100th anniversary of its independence and Washington D.C. is home to thousands of Americans with Estonian roots, Mayor Muriel Bowser declared Feb. 24, 2018 Estonia Day.
The announcement noted that a variety of events will be held in Washington to celebrate the Estonian centennial, including an exhibit of the artwork of Estonian painter Michel Sittow at the National Gallery of Art and a performance by singer and actor Mart Sander at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The announcement also said that Estonia remains a global advocate of promoting peace, unity, freedom and well-being for all of humanity.
