Storm left some Western Estonian island residents without power
A storm over the Western Estonian island of Saaremaa caused a failure along the 110-kilovolt Võiküla-Sikassaare power line that left customers linked to Valjala, Orissaare and Muhu substations without power for a short period of time on Thursday morning.
According to state transmission system operator Elering, power was restored to Valjala substation by 9:16 a.m. and to Muhu substation by 9:45 a.m. Customers of the third substation affected by the cut, Orissaare, were repowered automatically within 15 seconds.
Power to three substations in Saaremaa and Muhu went out at 8:34 a.m. on Thursday after the heavy winds caused a disruption to the high-voltage line connecting the area.
