The coronavirus crisis helpline 1247, launched by the Alarm Center at the beginning of the emergency situation, will remain in work as a uniform helpline providing information about what is happening in the country.

Even after the emergency situation, the crisis helpline still receives more than 500 daily calls from people asking for clarification regarding restrictions. The Alarm Center has thus decided to keep the number 1247 active.

As the Alarm Center provides information on various phone numbers (such as 112 for emergencies and 1220 for medical advice and consultation), it has for some time planned to centralize all information to one number, the director general of the Alarm Center Kätlin Alvela told ERR.

"It is important for us that people remember two phone numbers: 112 if they are in need of emergency help and if their life or health is at risk. If they need information concerning the functioning of the state, they can dial 1247 and we will be their gateway," Alvela added.

Operating under a single number makes it possible to develop further IT-solutions, which will help forwarding questions and answers to correct parties.
