Police catch second Lasnamäe murder suspect
Police had apprehended a second murder suspect following the fatal stabbing of a man in the Lasnamäe district of Tallinn early last week.
Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) personnel arrested 34-year-old Ilja Gaidalenko Monday, a suspect in the killing of a 26-year-old man on Läänemere tee in Lasnamäe, following a fight.
The PPA had attended the scene shortly after 8 a.m. on Monday, August 24, but the three suspects had already fled.
A public appeal was then issued; the PPA apprehended another suspect, Maxim Vassiljev, 30, last Tuesday. A third man, Roman Gluhovtšenko, 32, is still at large.
According to preliminary data, the incident started in a night spot in the area, later spilling out into the street, where a 26-year-old man was stabbed. The man was seriously injured and was taken to hospital, where he later died.
A 31-year-old woman and 39-year-old man were also injured in the incident, and allowed home for treatment after receiving first aid.
All three suspects have prior criminal records.
