As there will be a two month gap between when Tõnis Lukas vacates his position as director of the Estonian National Museum (ERM) and Alar Karis takes over the job, Rein Kinkar will fulfill the responsibilities of museum director in the meantime.

Kinkar currently works at the museum as CFO and has led the project for the museum's outdoor areas for some time already.

Kinkar is also president of the Tartu Rotary Club and has previously worked at SEB.

Lukas' term as museum director will conclude on Jan. 21. Karis, however, opted to complete his term of office as Auditor General, which will delay his taking over as director of ERM until April 9, 2018. The new director's term will be five years in length.

The Estonia 100 gala concert and presidential reception, celebrating the centennial of the Republic of Estonia on Feb. 24, will take place during Kinkar's interim term.
