Javelin thrower Kirt to miss Estonian championships
Javelin thrower and World Athletics Championship silver medalist Magnus Kirt has pulled out of next weekend's Estonian championships.
Kirt, who injured his shoulder en route to claiming his silver with a throw of 88.36 meters in Doha, Qatar, last year, says that while he will not be competing in late summer or fall, he does not want to rule out the possibility of competing before year end, daily Õhtuleht reports (link in Estonian).
"I have to start at some point. The sooner I can do, the better," he said.
Kirt, 30, voted 2019 men's sportsperson of the year, visited an Osteopath in Marseille, France, last week, saying that he had some areas which still needed work and exercise before he is restored to full fitness.
The Estonian Athletics Championships take place on August 8 and 9 at Kadriorg Stadium in Tallinn.
