Tallinn Chef Awarded Spot in Bocuse d'Or Final
The head chef of Tallinn restaurant Egoist, Heidi Pinnak, has earned a spot in the finals of next year's Bocuse d'Or, a prestigious international cooking contest held in Lyon each January.
Pinnak's team, who represent Estonia in the competition, came in 11th of the 20 European participants in the prelimiary round, outperforming chefs from leading gourmet countries Italy and Spain.
First place in the European preliminaries went to Norway, followed by Sweden and Denmark.
In total, 24 chefs from across the globe will go head-to-head in the final round of the event, frequently referred to as the culinary equivalent of the Olympic Games. In the 20-year history of the competition, the number of female finalists can be counted on one hand, ETV reported.
In the finals, the chefs will have five hours and 35 minutes to prepare a meat and a fish dish, which will be presented to a jury of 24 renowned chefs.
