Press Gets Glimpse of New Armored Personnel Carriers

The first of Estonia's newly purchased Sisu XA-188 armored personnel carriers, part of a batch of 81 that the Ministry of Defense ordered from the Netherlands, have arrived in Estonia and were shown off to the press at a military training ground near Tallinn on November 24.
The remainder of the Finnish-built carriers will be delivered incrementally over the next few years, with the last arriving in 2015. The cost of the purchase was just over 20 million euros.
Commander of the Defense Forces of Estonia Ants Laaneots and Minister of Defense Jaak Aaviksoo were on hand for the press demonstration.
The vehicles will be used to provide better armor for the 1st Infantry Brigade, which is currently deployed in Afghanistan.
